‘Wonder Woman’ Return Proves DCEU Isn’t Rebooting

In the DC Extended Universe, the first Wonder Woman film was one of the biggest successes, with Gal Gadot performing the role of Princess Diana to great success. However, the future of the character has been somewhat uncertain, with many unsure where it will appear next. I am pleased to report that Amazon is slated to appear in several DCEU projects in the near future.

The actress is reportedly involved in a number of future DC projects, which is sure to excite her fans. The announcement also seems to confirm that the DCEU will not be rebooted in the near future, even under the leadership of David Zaslav. The return of Diana could have the same effect on some of her fellow heroes as well.

For as rocky as the DCEU has been, 2017’s Wonder Woman was an undisputed success. It was the only real win for DC’s fledgling shared universe for a while, both critically and financially. While showing the potential of DC’s movies, the character quickly catapulted to stardom that she had not experienced since the heyday of Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman TV series.

As Wonder Woman was one of the least controversial aspects of the DCEU, she would appear in future films. In the meantime, many were uncertain as to how this would be achieved. For a long time, it appeared that The Flash would almost completely reboot the movie universe, erasing its most controversial films from the history books and starting over. Therefore, the continuity of any movie, including Wonder Woman, would be highly suspect. For fans of Patty Jenkins’ films, Diana’s big screen features are likely to remain within the DCEU.

DCEU’s Flash isn’t ending

DCEU's Flash isn't ending

Michael Keaton’s Batman was intended to take the narrative place of Ben Affleck’s Batman in The Flash. Affleck was likely to replace Keaton for scenes in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and Batgirl, which spun off from a post-Flash continuity, was canceled. Gadot’s appearance in several upcoming DC films further supports the theory that the “Keaton DCEU” is dead. Gadot’s role in several upcoming DC films contributes to the theory that the “Keaton DCEU” is dead. It is possible that both of these are Shazam! Beyond Fury of the Gods and The Flash, there must be at least one more.

A third Wonder Woman movie would be the most likely candidate, which would also subtly confirm that Warner Bros. There is no plan to reboot Discovery at this time, according to Discovery president David Zaslav. A new universe without Keaton’s Batman would be utterly confusing with Gadot around, especially since the new universe lacks its “hook” in the form of Keaton’s Batman. In addition to Keaton, completing a trilogy in a “new world” would be ridiculous, particularly since Zaslav wants a cohesive universe of successful films. Considering other news surrounding the DCEU, it is possible that Gadot’s Wonder Woman will finally share the screen with Cavill’s Superman. By completing her trilogy, she could also lead to him receiving his as well as showcasing Affleck’s Batman more, finally bringing the Trinity together on the big screen and outside of the comics.
