Dedicated graphics cards no longer needed for No Man’s Sky

Since its launch in 2016, Hello Games’ universe exploration title No Man’s Sky has undergone dramatic changes. After launching a disastrous game six years ago, the studio has invested its heart and soul into distancing itself from that disastrous launch. More and more free content is being added to the website with every update. Considering how much the game has been expanded, many would assume the PC version would require a decent computer. However, it turns out that was not the case.

PCGamesN recently reported that No Man’s Sky not only runs on a low-end computer, but also does not require a dedicated graphics card. However, this is not to imply that graphics hardware is not a requirement, but the spec list indicates that gamers will not require a GPU from Nvidia or AMD to play No Man’s Sky on PC. A minimum requirement would be an Intel UHD 630 with 3 GB of VRAM. Integrated graphics processors are included in Intel’s 8th and 9th generation CPUs. Additionally, the game is also capable of being run on an i3 processor, so it appears that the game does not even require a current CPU to function.

An Nvidia RTX 3090 graphics card will undoubtedly enhance the game, but it is comforting to know that an integrated graphics chip will suffice, especially in this day and age, when many people are simply not willing to spend their money on expensive technology. As reported by RandomGaminginHD on YouTube, playing No Man’s Sky without a dedicated graphics card will still produce a reasonable frame rate.

As No Man’s Sky recently received its Endurance update, Hello Games continues to release new content for the game. Upon launch, it was heavily criticized for being a game with very little to do. As soon as the game was released, it became evident that the studio had greatly overhyped what players would be able to accomplish in the game, resulting in false advertising lawsuits being filed.

Currently, it is a very different story. A few months ago, No Man’s Sky was awarded the BAFTA for Best Evolving Game. In consequence, the game has had one of the biggest redemption arcs in the industry, and millions of players around the world enjoy it.
